Calm & Cream

Editorial policy

How this site sources, updates and corrects what it publishes.

Last updated

This page sets out how content on Calm & Cream is written, checked, updated and corrected. It is a commitment you can hold us to, not a statement of intent.

Sourcing

  • Every ingredient claim comes from a published list. Either the brand's own materials or a public INCI database. Every product card links to the source we read.
  • Every trigger claim is cited. Where we say something is a recognized rosacea trigger, the source is named and linked - usually the National Rosacea Society.
  • Brand claims are labeled as brand claims. Where a manufacturer asserts something we cannot verify independently - a proprietary water, a patented complex - we report it as their claim rather than repeating it as fact.
  • Where the evidence is thin, we say so. Several pages here state plainly that a claim is contested or that the research is early.
  • We do not cite our own pages as evidence. Internal links point to fuller treatments, not to support for a claim.

What we will not publish

  • Fabricated testimonials or reviews. No verified customer reviews exist for this site, so there is no testimonials section on it. There will not be one until real, attributable reviews exist.
  • Prices. There is no live price feed behind this site and we will not print a number we cannot verify.
  • Star ratings in structured data. We have no rating data, and marking an editorial view up as a review rating would be fabricated.
  • Claimed credentials. No clinical qualification, license or certification is asserted anywhere on this site, because none exists.
  • Claimed hands-on testing. We do not run a lab and we do not say we do.
  • Medical advice. We describe formulations. Diagnosis and treatment are a clinician's job.
  • Urgency or scarcity language. No limited time, no countdowns, no only-a-few-left. It would be false on a site with no price feed, and it is the wrong register for anxious, reactive-skin buyers.

Independence

This site is funded by Amazon affiliate commissions. No brand pays for placement, ranking, inclusion or review, and no brand sees a page before it publishes.

The structural protections against that conflict are:

  1. 1The screen runs first. A product is excluded on its ingredient list before any commercial consideration enters, which is why several high-commission products appear in screened-out sections.
  2. 2Every pick names who should skip it. A recommendation with no downside stated is not a recommendation we have thought about.
  3. 3Some pages recommend nothing. Where the honest answer is a clinician or no product at all, the page says so - which earns nothing and is the point.
  4. 4Cheap answers win when they are right. The top pick on several pages is a drugstore product, because it is the best one.

The last updated date on every page reflects a genuine content change. We do not touch dates to look fresh - a date that moves without the content moving is a lie about the thing dates exist to tell you.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, email contact@calmandcream.com. Corrections are genuinely welcome, particularly on ingredient lists - formulas change without announcement and a reader holding the bottle has better information than we do.

  1. 1Factual errors are fixed as soon as we can verify them, and the page's updated date moves.
  2. 2Where a correction changes a recommendation, the page says what changed rather than quietly swapping a pick.
  3. 3Where a product has been reformulated, we say so explicitly, because readers who bought it on our recommendation need to know.
  4. 4If we cannot verify a reported error, we will say that rather than changing the page on an unverified report.

Author

All content is written by Michael W., the hands-on owner behind The First Buyer. There is no editorial team, no contributor network and no AI-generated content published without review. Where a page states a limit on our expertise, that limit is real.

Questions people ask

Do brands pay to be featured on this site?

No. No brand pays for placement, ranking, inclusion or review, and no brand sees a page before it publishes. The site is funded by Amazon affiliate commissions only.

Why are there no customer reviews on this site?

Because no verified customer reviews exist for it. Rather than invent testimonials or borrow another business's, we ship no testimonials section at all. That will change when real, attributable reviews exist and not before.

How often are pages updated?

Roundups, comparisons and reviews every six months; ingredient guides and routines every twelve. A reformulation triggers an immediate update regardless of schedule, because it can actively harm a reader who bought on our recommendation.

How do I report an error?

Email contact@calmandcream.com. Ingredient corrections are especially welcome - formulas change without announcement, and a reader holding the bottle often has better information than we do.

Is the content on this site AI-generated?

Content is written and reviewed by Michael W. There is no unreviewed machine-generated content published here, and every factual claim traces to a source we link.
